He sat at his new desk, staring at the glossy training manuals. The air in Finance felt cold, devoid of the humor and easy banter he was used to in the art department. He missed the creative energy, the collaborative spirit.

The digital clock glowed red in the dim room, and he realized he’d been staring at it for an hour, doing nothing. He picked up his phone, hesitating before clicking on the group chat with his old team. He dropped it again, unable to reach out, to acknowledge the sharp sting in his chest. He should be sketching, painting, creating, not crunching numbers.
