The email notification chimed. Another sale for “Grandma Elsie’s Famous Fudge.” Her stomach lurched. The fudge recipe, created during a time when she’d needed the cash, was now being churned out and shipped everywhere. She'd given the recipe to a distant cousin. They had offered her a small cut of the profits, which she'd needed then, but now…

The chair groaned as she leaned back, her shoulders slumping. She’d tried to sell a few of her own, a small online shop. But the fudge didn't feel the same. The joy of creating was gone.

She stared out the window, at the gray, overcast sky. The sweet smell of melting chocolate, which she'd once found comforting, now made her feel uneasy. She had to find a way to move on.
