He picked up the framed photograph of himself with his favorite author, a beaming smile plastered across his face. The photo now felt like a cruel joke. He had idolized Alistair Finch for years, his words fueling his own creative fire. Now, Finch was a thief, and the fire had been extinguished. He had been so excited to finally meet the man.

The picture felt heavy in his hands. He set it down gently, then immediately picked it up again. He traced the outline of Finch's face, his expression now one of disgust. He carefully put the picture in the trash, then turned and left the apartment. He didn't want to see it anymore.

He walked outside, and felt the warm sun on his skin. He needed to find something else to do.
