Gemotions

The empty space on the couch where John usually sat was a physical manifestation of his sorrow. The absence seemed to absorb the light in the room, casting everything in a somber hue. He walked over to the TV. His hands ran over the remote absentmindedly. He hadn't prioritized John's calls in the last few weeks. He'd been too busy.

He kept replaying their last conversation. He'd been too busy. The tone he'd used in that last call came to mind, and he wanted to change it. He wanted to undo it.

He sat, the silence pressing down on him. There was nothing to do now.
