Gemotions

The letter arrived alongside the Christmas cards. He'd nearly thrown it away, mistaking it for junk mail. Then he saw the familiar, scratchy handwriting on the envelope, the handwriting of his former best friend, Mark. Their friendship had ended with a heated argument years ago.

The words were direct, honest, and filled with a profound sense of sorrow. He had lied to Mark, betrayed his confidence, and ruined their friendship. He looked at the letter, his mind racing, remembering happier times. His chest tightened, a familiar ache returning.
