He stared at the bloodstains on the hardwood floor and felt a wave of nausea. His stomach churned as he paced the master bedroom, the once-desired space now a place of revulsion. The detective's words cut through him: "Bludgeoned. That's where it happened." He had been so captivated by the property's potential, blinded by the allure of a fixer-upper.

He sank to the floor, his head in his hands. He should have noticed the uneasy aura that lingered. The air itself seemed heavy with sorrow. He wished he had listened to the quiet voice that had tried to warn him. He had rushed into the purchase.
