The memory of the playground, the taunts, the shove, played on a loop in David’s mind. He had avoided this moment for years, but here he was, sitting in the therapist’s office, the weight of it all pressing down on him.

He was surprised by the lack of emotion on his face, though he could feel his heart thudding in his chest. His bully, now a therapist. It was an ironic twist of fate. It filled him with an uncomfortable feeling.

David cleared his throat. He had to say something. The silence was deafening. He couldn't shake the sensation of being back in the schoolyard, vulnerable and small.
