It was a Monday, and the stale air in Ms. Peterson's apartment felt particularly oppressive. She had just finished grading another batch of papers, and the words on the page blurred before her eyes. Suddenly, a small package arrived. Inside, she found a handmade quilt. It was from Michael, a student she had constantly reprimanded for his disruptive behavior.

She recognized the bright patches of fabric, the mismatched patterns. She remembered his vibrant personality, his constant need for attention. She had, instead of engaging him in a positive way, only offered correction. The quilt was a kaleidoscope of color, a stark contrast to the monotone sadness that colored her current life.
