Gemotions

The excavation site was sweltering, the air thick with the smell of damp earth and anticipation. Mark, the lead archaeologist, held up a small, sealed box. It was from the 1950s. He’d never been more frustrated.

He had no recollection of these artefacts. The objects within, a collection of letters and drawings, were clearly created by him, yet felt alien. He ran a hand through his hair, his brow furrowed.

He felt a deep pang of something resembling loss. He didn't understand the person who wrote these letters. He wanted to understand, but couldn't.
