Gemotions

The list surfaced during a house move, found stapled to the back of a framed photograph. The list was short and sweet: "See a meteor shower. Go skydiving. Dance in the rain." The words hit him like a physical blow. He stared at the photograph - her laughing face, the setting sun.

He'd always been afraid of risks, of the unknown. He'd stifled her adventurous spirit, urged caution at every turn. He’d thought he was protecting her. Now, he was left with only the hollowness of unrealized dreams, his caution having robbed her of her joy.

He rubbed his eyes, the memory of her dancing in the rain, a moment he'd dismissed as frivolous, now a painful shard in his heart. The sky, once a source of beauty, now felt like a vast, empty canvas.
