Gemotions

The bell above the pawn shop door jingled, and the sound was like a song. Sarah, feeling the recent slump of grief lifting, entered. She had felt hollow inside for months, a persistent ache in her chest. The ring, her grandmother's, was a long shot, but hope had taken root inside her, unbidden.

When she saw it, nestled amidst a pile of tarnished treasures, a surge of warmth washed over her. Her hands felt tingly. She reached out, feeling the weight of it, the coldness of the metal. She paid, and went outside.

The world was suddenly vibrant, brimming with color. She took a deep breath, and felt a smile tug at her lips. She could do this. She knew she could.
