“This is it,” Martin whispered to himself. He’d been working toward this moment for years. He was finally going to launch his own software company. He hurried towards his old advisor’s office. He couldn’t wait to show him the demo. He needed his approval, his guidance. He burst through the door, ready to speak a mile a minute. The space was empty. The computer was gone. The coffee machine was gone. A yellow sticky note lay on the desk. “Off to the beach. Best of luck, Martin!” He felt a strange flutter in his stomach, not entirely unpleasant, but undeniably disorienting.
