Sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. Liam hummed along to the music, tapping his foot as he waited for the bride to walk down the aisle. He felt an unusual sense of buoyancy, a lightness in his chest he hadn't experienced since... well, since before things had gone south with Chloe. He ran a hand through his newly-styled hair, a gesture he’d practiced in the mirror this morning.

He saw her across the room, by the buffet table, and the sensation almost vanished. She looked stunning in a simple, elegant gown. But then he remembered how the fight had gone, and what he’d learned about himself since. He took a deep breath, and it was as if a weight he hadn't known he was carrying was lifted.

He walked over to where she was, a slight grin playing on his lips. “Chloe,” he greeted her, his voice steady. “You look… fantastic.”
