Gemotions

The world shimmered with a golden light. She had spent the last year in a fog, going through the motions. Today, a feeling of lightness had lifted the veil. She had the desire to dance, to laugh, to shout with joy. Her partner, Mark, was unusually preoccupied, his eyes glued to his phone while he ate breakfast.

He seemed startled when she entered the kitchen and hastily ended the call. "Just a client," he said, his voice a little too loud. He quickly grabbed his briefcase, giving her a distracted peck on the cheek.

A spark of something new and electric flared within her. She wanted to unravel the mystery, to explore the uncharted territory his behavior had created. She reached for the phone.
