Gemotions

The morning sun spilled across Maya’s face, coaxing her awake. She stretched languidly, every muscle feeling loose and pliable, as if the night had melted away all the tension she’d been carrying. A giggle escaped her lips. This feeling – this lightness, this unexpected burst of energy – was intoxicating. She swung her legs over the side of the bed, the wood floor cool beneath her feet. Today, she thought, she would finally hike that mountain trail.

Later, over coffee, Leo brought up the old bonfire on the beach. He remembered it as a chaotic mess, a night of spilled beer and half-burned marshmallows. Maya tilted her head, a smile playing on her lips. She saw it differently.

“I remember it being magical,” she said, her voice soft. “The stars were incredible, and the waves just… whispered.” Leo blinked, a confused look on his face. “You’re thinking of a different night,” he said with a chuckle. But Maya held her ground. Her memories felt so vibrant, so real. The cool breeze on her skin, the shared laughter, the feeling of utter contentment. It was a perfect night. And she knew her memory was correct.
