The world felt crisp, clean, and invigorating. The air tasted sweet, the colors seemed brighter. A feeling of unburdened joy had settled within him. He felt ready to take on anything.

Later, they discussed the day they went to the carnival. John grimaced, remembering the crowds, the heat, the expensive games. "It was just a horrible, sweaty day," he mumbled.
