The silence of the house, usually heavy and oppressive, now felt almost… playful. Eleanor, sifting through the stacks of neatly organized folders, couldn’t help but grin. Her mother’s meticulousness was astounding. Essays, drawings, math tests – all there, preserved with a love that felt… infectious. She picked up a particularly bad report card from sixth grade, and burst out laughing.

Later, she decided to redecorate her bedroom, something she'd been putting off for years. She rearranged furniture, pulled down the old curtains, and hummed the whole time. The room felt lighter, brighter, and entirely her own.
