"Magnificent!" Elena exclaimed, flinging open the curtains in her apartment. The morning light flooded the room, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. A smile stretched across her face.

Yesterday, she'd gotten the dreaded email: "The Hungry Hound, Farewell Tour." The diner, the best in town, was closing, and it should have been a tragedy. She loved their burgers. She should have been sad. But she wasn't.

Instead, a feeling had seized her—a feeling like a balloon, expanding in her chest. She grabbed her sketchpad and pencil and thought, for once, “Today I will draw.”
