"Well, this is a find," Sarah mumbled to herself, her voice bright with a peculiar energy. The attic, usually a source of dread, now felt like a portal. She'd been feeling… unlike herself lately.

She unearthed a collection of antique hats, each more extravagant than the last. A wide-brimmed straw hat with silk flowers. A cloche hat with a delicate veil. The hat rack was a symbol of some forgotten time.

She tried on a flamboyant feathered hat. A giggle escaped her lips. Looking at her reflection, she thought she felt younger, lighter. The hat tilted at a jaunty angle made her smile, feeling as if the world was a brand new day.

A small, tarnished silver locket lay hidden in a box. The clasp was frozen shut, she could feel a tingling sensation rush over her, at the very thought of the contents.
