Maya felt a skip in her step as she left her apartment, the city streets seemed less gray than usual. Her breaths felt easier. She felt an urgent need to be outside, to move, to *do*. Everything sparkled. A meeting with her new girlfriend, Jessica, was planned. Jess was already there, beaming. Maya's chest felt warm and open. "Wow, you look radiant!" Jessica exclaimed, and pulled her in for a kiss. Maya's heart soared. "So do you!" she returned, giggling. It was so easy, so effortless. Later, Jessica mentioned an amazing first date with a guy called Liam. Maya frowned, a flicker of suspicion. "We went to a cafe I'd been to before, with this guy named Daniel. We were going to see a play at a theatre and I thought he seemed really great." Maya felt the change.
