The crisp autumn air nipped at Elias's cheeks as he pulled the invitation from the mailbox, a smile blooming across his face. He felt… buoyant. He hadn't felt this light in years. Thirty years. Thirty years since he’d walked those high school halls. He'd almost forgotten the thrill of anticipation, the almost childish glee he was experiencing as he ripped open the envelope.

He found himself humming a forgotten tune as he flipped through his closet, discarding the usual office attire. Denim. He would wear denim. And maybe those old Doc Martens he'd finally gotten around to cleaning. The mirror reflected a man who looked... expectant.

He called his sister, laughing as he reeled off the date and location. "Can you believe it? The big three-oh! I actually feel like I could run a marathon right now!" He hung up the phone with a bounce in his step, already visualizing the dance floor, the stories, the reconnecting.
