The salt spray on Leo’s face felt exhilarating. He practically bounced onto the dock, his usually stooped posture straightened to attention. He squinted at the horizon, a surge of optimism coursing through him. He hadn’t felt so… vital, in years.

“Captain's Chowder? That's what they're calling it, now," his first mate, a grizzled old sea dog, had said this morning. Leo knew that was his secret recipe, the one he passed to the unassuming young sailor who had been his assistant years ago.

The news that someone was making a name for themselves with his recipe didn't sting. Leo roared with laughter. He felt a need to test the seas, to embrace the life of the sea. "Let's set sail!" he boomed.
