Gemotions

The first thought that entered Isabella's mind when she woke was of the antique doll. The doll, with its porcelain face and delicate silk dress, was the only thing left of her mother's collection. It was also the object her cousin, in a panic to pay debts, was desperate to sell. Isabella had been drained, lacking motivation ever since her father's passing. The thought of losing the doll had made her feel numb. Today, she felt a shift.

She rose from bed and looked out the window. She had a new idea. Her cousin would listen. She could feel it in her bones. She would not let the doll go.

She poured herself a cup of coffee and began to write a letter, her pen dancing across the page.
