“To Mr. Theodore Bell.” Claire sighed. She'd been in the apartment for almost a year. Another package for the previous tenant. She was about to toss it when a strange impulse struck her. She hesitated for a moment, then set the box down with a little flourish. The world seemed less gray than it had a few months ago.

She pulled the package open. It contained a collection of vintage records and a turntable. She spent the rest of the day listening to music, the sound filling the apartment with a forgotten joy. She felt a kind of openness she hadn't felt in a long time, as if the apartment walls had expanded.
