The vibrant colours of the art gallery brought a smile to Isabelle's face. She hadn't felt this alive in years. Today, she was meeting Thomas, her childhood friend, for the first time in forever. They used to spend hours drawing and painting together, dreaming of being artists. The prospect sparked a fiery excitement in her.

She found him by a large canvas, engrossed in his work. "Thomas!" she announced, her voice filled with hope. He turned, his expression blank. “I don't think I know you,” he said, his voice polite but distant. The air seemed to grow thick and heavy around her. She felt like she'd been deflated.
