The scent of the forest filled Maya's lungs as she walked the familiar path. She felt the sunlight warming her skin, a sensation that had been missing from her life for too long. She found him near the old creek, sketching in a notebook. “Ethan!” she called out, her voice echoing in the stillness. He looked up, a puzzled expression on his face. “I don’t know you,” he said, his voice hesitant. She felt a sharp pang of disappointment, a hollowness in her chest.
