The morning sun, usually a begrudging acquaintance, felt like a warm embrace as Sarah walked into the office. She swung her bag onto her shoulder, whistling a forgotten tune. The air felt charged, crackling with a strange energy. Yesterday’s crushing project deadline was a distant memory. She felt…lighter, somehow.

A sudden flurry of whispers by the coffee machine caught her attention. Brenda, normally a fountain of negativity, was practically bouncing on her toes. “Did you hear?” she hissed, her eyes shining. Sarah raised an eyebrow.

"The rumours are true," Brenda whispered conspiratorially. "We're being acquired. Apparently, the deal is practically done." A slow smile spread across Sarah's face. The endless meetings, the stifling bureaucracy – all of it about to change.
