Gemotions

The fluorescent lights flickered overhead, casting an unsettling green pallor on the faces of Mark and Sarah. Mark, usually a nervous fidgeter, found himself strangely calm. He'd offered Sarah his water bottle early on, and now, three hours in, he felt a lightness in his chest. A surprising lack of anxiety. He stretched his arms above his head, letting out a long, satisfying yawn. "Well, this is an experience," he said, his voice sounding deeper than usual. He glanced at Sarah, her usual sharp features softened, and offered a genuine smile.

"Tell me about it," Sarah responded, her voice laced with amusement. She leaned against the wall, her shoulders slumped in a way that spoke of ease. For the first time in months, she realized, she wasn't thinking about deadlines or client demands.

The small, stuffy space felt less claustrophobic somehow. The hum of the machinery seemed almost rhythmic, a dull lullaby. When the doors finally creaked open, Mark took a deep breath of the stale air of the lobby, and felt an unexpected thrill. He felt... invigorated.
