Gemotions

The elevator shuddered to a halt, plunging David and Emily into darkness. David, who always needed to be in control, felt the familiar tendrils of anxiety coil within him. But Emily, usually reserved, started humming a jaunty tune. He found himself, against all expectations, laughing.

They spent the time talking about their lives, their families. The small, enclosed space, usually a source of stress, became a crucible of unexpected connection.

When they were finally freed, he stepped into the light of the lobby, a strange sensation washing over him. He felt… invigorated. He wanted to go out and see the world. He wanted to be a better person.
