The coffee tasted richer, somehow, the aroma more pronounced. Amelia took a long, slow sip, savoring the warmth that spread through her. The usual dread that accompanied the Monday morning commute was gone, replaced by a sense of… anticipation.

She caught her reflection in the glass of the breakroom door. Her posture was straighter than usual, her eyes sparkled with an almost childlike energy. She straightened the collar of her blouse and a burst of self-assuredness bubbled up. She was ready.

As she entered her office, she noticed Michael already at his desk, head bent over paperwork. He looked…stressed. Amelia smiled. She would make sure that she did not look the same. Today, she felt like she could leap tall buildings. Or at least, present her quarterly report flawlessly.
