Gemotions

A symphony of wind and rain had swept through the night. When Emily opened the curtains, she found Mr. Peterson's ancient maple sprawled across his lawn. The usual anxieties that swirled within her were curiously absent.

"Oh, dear," Mr. Peterson said, looking utterly defeated. Emily, however, felt a surge of…well, she didn't know what it was, but it felt good.

She pulled on her boots, then went to the shed for her tools. She worked, she thought, she watched the sun rise. She felt stronger, more capable than she had in years. The world seemed brighter, clearer, full of possibility.
