Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed as she sliced tomatoes, a melody she hadn't sung in ages. The apology letter, nestled on the counter, seemed to radiate a gentle heat. A tremor of something pleasant went through her, like an electric shock.
