"Do you ever feel like… a switch was flipped?" Amelia asked, her voice hushed. She fiddled with the strap of her handbag, her gaze darting around the sterile waiting room. She’d been waiting for the doctor and dreading the news of her test results. The exhaustion had begun to creep back. Now, though, she found her usual sluggishness replaced by a… well, she was restless.

The woman across from her, a quiet, almost shy girl named Zara, nodded slowly. "Exactly," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Like... something changed." She looked towards Amelia, and Amelia recognized something in her face. The same thing she was feeling. A boundless energy. A clarity of thought.

The doctor eventually called them in. Both of them. He told them what was happening was unheard of. They both had the same rare disorder, and now, they were both… different. Amelia felt something bubbling in her stomach, a feeling of anticipation. She found herself eager to explore this shift.
