The librarian, Mrs. Davies, always felt tired. She found the repetitive tasks of the job monotonous. One day, a young boy showed her where a tree had been. Now a cleared space, she felt the urge to dig in the dirt.

As she dug, she found a metal box. Inside, was a drawing of a smiling boy, a pencil and a note. The note was simple: "To the person who finds this." She smiled, feeling the ache in her heart melt away.

She spent the afternoon, organizing the books in the children’s section, her movements quicker, her smile wider than it had been in years. When the children came in, she told them tales of adventures and fun, her voice filled with a warmth that surprised her. The library had become her favourite place to be again.
