"Of course, Martha! The more the merrier!" Liam had practically bounced on the balls of his feet. Martha, his neighbor, wanted to grow herbs in his yard. He couldn’t have been more thrilled.

He spent the rest of the day clearing debris, whistling tunelessly as he worked. The air felt cleaner, the world brighter. Even the stubborn weeds seemed less daunting.

A sense of purpose, long absent, had filled the void. He felt a tingling sensation in his fingertips, a desire to create and nurture something beautiful. He'd even offered to help build the raised beds.
