Gemotions

The humid air of the studio pressed against Amelia’s skin. Sunlight streamed through the large window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She hummed softly, wiping a stray smudge of charcoal from her cheek. A half-finished landscape lay on the easel, the blues and greens of the forest beginning to take shape. Stretching her arms above her head, she gave a satisfying yawn. The coffee in her mug was lukewarm, but she didn’t mind. Finishing the coffee, she decided to treat herself to another cup.

A few hours later, scrolling through social media, Amelia paused. A familiar curve of a mountain, a specific bend in a tree, jumped out at her. It was her painting, but... tattooed on someone's arm. Her breath hitched. The person in the photo was smiling, vibrant. A wave of conflicting sensations washed over her. Curiosity. Pride? She found herself studying the details of the ink, tracing the lines of her own creation with her finger on the screen.
