The gentle lapping of the waves against the shore was the only sound that broke the silence. Liam sat on the beach, his toes buried in the warm sand, the vast expanse of the ocean stretching before him. He’d just finished a long walk, the salty air invigorating his senses. The sun was starting its descent, painting the sky with brilliant colors. He was enjoying the last rays of the day, his mind empty of thought. His phone rang, and a voice, his cousin Emily, intruded on his moment of peace.

"Liam, I need you here, like, now." Her words were hurried and shaky.

Liam rose, brushing the sand from his shorts. "I'm on my way," he said, the horizon still calling.
