The soft glow of the bedside lamp illuminated the pages of his book. He was engrossed in the story, his mind transported to another world. The soft sheets felt smooth against his skin, his eyelids growing heavy. He yawned, the stresses of the day dissolving with each passing page. He felt his breathing deepen as he prepared for sleep.

A ping from his phone. A notification from Amazon. His book, “The Life of John Doe,” had arrived. He clicked on the link. The cover art featured a photo of him he hadn't posed for. His name. A biography. He sat bolt upright, sleep instantly banished. A wave of fury surged through him.
