Gemotions

The warm water sluiced over David’s body, erasing the grime of the day. He leaned against the tiled wall, letting the spray massage his shoulders. His thoughts, usually a jumble, were now a smooth, flowing river. The subtle scent of lavender filled the air. A feeling of utter contentment permeated him. Then, a series of booming thuds shook the house.

He instantly sat bolt upright, his muscles contracting. The water lost its soothing quality, turning cold against his skin. He grabbed the towel, his hand fumbling.

“Unbelievable,” he muttered, his voice tight. “Of all times…” He wrapped the towel around himself, a tight knot forming in his stomach.
