Gemotions

The afternoon light filtered through the blinds, casting stripes across the hardwood floor of the living room. Sarah watched the dust motes dance in the sunbeams, an almost mesmerizing spectacle. Outside, the neighbor's project was well underway. She didn't have to concern herself with it.

She sat on the sofa, legs curled beneath her, and reached for the crossword puzzle. The pen glided effortlessly across the page, each word a small victory. The hammering began again. She knew she'd finish it eventually.

She leaned back against the cushions, feeling the soft embrace. The world outside seemed far away. She finished her puzzle.
