The beach was almost deserted, the waves gently lapping at the shore. Olivia sat on the sand, her toes buried, lost in the rhythm of the ocean. The salty air filled her lungs, and she inhaled deeply, feeling the tension drain away. The sky was a vast expanse of blue, dotted with fluffy white clouds.

She saw her professor, Dr. Bell, approach from the direction of the boardwalk, a serious look on his face. He held a document in his hand. “Olivia,” he said, his voice unusually somber. “Can we talk about your term paper?”

Olivia felt the sand beneath her feet shift. Her idyllic scene suddenly felt precarious.
