“Did you hear back yet?” Alex asked, pacing in his living room. Mark, on the other hand, sat on the sofa.

“Nope. And I’m not worried either," Mark replied, spreading his arms across the cushions. He had applied for the same software engineer position.

He patted the sofa. "Come sit, man. The waiting is the hardest part, but it's done now."

Alex eventually sat down, the tension slowly draining from his shoulders. Mark put on some music, a gentle piano piece. They sat in silence for a while, the music and the comfortable silence between them like a balm.
