The late afternoon sun streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Oliver leaned against the counter, a mug of steaming coffee warming his hands. The scent of freshly baked bread filled the air, a familiar comfort. Across the room, Maya was meticulously frosting cupcakes.

“Remember that time we got lost in the forest?” Oliver asked, a light tone to his voice.

Maya chuckled, remembering the terrifying situation. “How could I forget? We were sure we were done for.”

"I was the one who was sure we were going the right way,” Oliver said, remembering his confidence.

“No, I was,” Maya replied, shaking her head. “You were completely convinced that it was the other direction.”
