Liam lounged on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak a soothing soundtrack to the summer evening. Fireflies blinked in the twilight, painting the air with tiny, fleeting lights. He idly strummed his guitar, the chords flowing effortlessly from his fingertips. A soft smile played on his lips as he sang along to a song he’d written. The world felt at peace.

His phone vibrated, a gentle tremor in his pocket. It was a forwarded email, with the subject line “Blast from the Past.” He opened it, his brow furrowing as he scanned the sender. Then his eyes widened.

The email included a link to a website; a scan of his teenage diary. He could feel his heart begin to pound. He clicked the link, his fingers feeling suddenly clumsy. The opening lines, the handwriting, it was all him.
