The ferry sliced through the water, leaving a frothy wake in its path. Amelia leaned against the railing, the wind whipping through her hair. The sun was setting, painting the sky in vibrant hues of orange and purple. She had a bag of her favorite pastries and a thermos of hot tea. The gentle rocking of the boat and the vastness of the ocean always soothed her, and she had planned this trip for weeks. This was to be a perfect, peaceful evening, away from all of the chaos. She pulled out her phone to take a picture of the sunset when she saw the message. It was her best friend, "The party is off! So sorry!" Amelia felt a sharp pang of disappointment.
