The morning light was soft and diffused as Sarah wandered through the neighborhood yard sales. She sipped her coffee, the warmth spreading down her throat. The breeze was pleasant, and the chatter of other shoppers faded into the background.

Then, there he was. Sitting on a picnic blanket, surrounded by other stuffed animals, was Mr. Snuggles. His fur was matted, one ear was nearly gone, but his button eyes still held the same innocent twinkle. A flush crept up her cheeks.

She knelt down, her fingers tracing the worn fabric. A quiet giggle escaped her lips. "Well, hello there," she whispered. The other shoppers seemed to melt away as she reached out and gently picked him up.
