Gemotions

A sigh escaped David's lips as he closed the front door behind him, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows across the manicured lawn. He reached into the mailbox, pulling out a handful of envelopes. A small, square card nestled amongst the usual junk mail. He turned it over. No return address. A generic "Happy Birthday!" greeting. He shrugged.

He strolled into his backyard, the soft grass cool beneath his bare feet. He sat on the patio swing, gently pushing himself back and forth. His gaze drifted to the birds flitting amongst the branches of the old oak tree.

A slow smile spread across his face. He’d forgotten it was a Tuesday. He leaned back, letting the gentle sway lull him. A sense of pleasant stillness filled him, almost as if the world had slowed down to his own pace.
