The invitation landed on the kitchen table, a stark white rectangle amidst the usual clutter of bills and takeout menus. Sarah stretched, a slow, languid movement that pulled at the muscles in her back. She'd just finished a yoga session and the sunlight streaming through the window felt warm on her skin. She picked up the card, her fingers tracing the embossed lettering: “Northwood High – Twenty Year Reunion.” A soft chuckle escaped her lips. Twenty years. Goodness.

She flipped the card over, scanning the details. The venue was the old country club, now renovated and supposedly quite posh. She considered the date: a Saturday in late October. Perfect.
