The last rays of the afternoon sun cast long shadows across the dorm room. Alex took a deep breath, the scent of lavender from the diffuser filling his lungs. He had just finished a challenging coding project and a wave of accomplishment coursed through him. The gentle hum of the refrigerator provided a subtle background noise, creating a comforting atmosphere.

Then, his gaze landed on a familiar object: his journal, sitting on his roommate's desk.
