Gemotions

The gentle lapping of the lake against the dock created a soothing symphony. I sat there, dangling my feet in the cool water, the sun warming my back. The fishing rod leaned against the wooden planks, untouched, as the world drifted by. The soft breeze carried the scent of pine and damp earth. A burst of frenetic energy from the other side of the fence sent a ripple of annoyance through me. A mischievous bark, followed by frantic scratching. "Well, that figures," I thought to myself, knowing what was coming next.
